ISF/10+2 Penalty Phase Nears

As the end of the "flexible enforcement" period comes to a close and the "enforced compliance" phase begins importers are encouraged to ensure that their ISF/10+2 data is being filed.

Ocean Freight Spot Rate Increases Taking Effect

US importers begin to feel the effects of the "emergency revenue" ocean spot increases, announced by the TSA in late 2009. The TSA carriers are seeking further increases during regular contract renewals later in 2010.

President Extends Trade Preference Programs

On December 28, 2009 President Obama signed legislation that extends the GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) and the Andean Trade Preferences Act (ATPA)/Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA) for one year. These programs allow for duty free or reduced duty entry of goods into the US from designated countries.

Remote Location Filing Becomes Permanent

US Customs recently made Remote Location Filing (RLF) a permanent Customs program. RLF benefits importers by allowing entries on most products to be filed from one central location - not necessarily near the port of entry. C J International routinely files remote entries for our clients.
