USMCA and New Opportunities for Small Businesses

As we mentioned in our June 17, 2020 post, the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) went into effect on July 1, 2020.

The United States’ Small Business Administration (SBA) has taken a particular interest in helping new and existing small businesses develop trade with Mexico under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The USMCA went into effect on July 1,2020, and the SBA has now appointed a new position, Associate Administrator for SBA’s Office of International Trade, to assist anyone interested in increasing existing or developing new business with Mexico.

At the SBA web page, you will find the announcement by the SBA on the information noted above and the web addresses for SBA’s Office of International Trade, for a complete explanation of the USMCA, and for the SBA’s International Sales resource site.

Please contact us if you are considering shipping to or from Mexico or Canada. Even with the resources available at SBA, any international shipper should consult with a Customs broker and Freight Forwarder at the planning stages of a new trade route.
