Additional Tariffs on Chinese Goods on Hold

After meeting with Chinese President Xi at the G-20 leaders’ summit in Japan, President Trump made the decision to put off any new tariffs on imports of Chinese products.

On Saturday June 29, 2019, he tweeted that he “had a great meeting with President Xi of China yesterday, far better than expected.  I agreed not to increase the already existing Tariffs that we charge China while we continue to negotiate…”

The U.S. will keep the current 25 percent tariff in place until further negotiations with China.
