GSP Eligibility to be cancelled for India and Turkey

On March 4, at the direction of the President, US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer announced that the US will be terminating GSP (Generalized System of Preference) duty free eligibility for goods imported from India and Turkey because they no longer comply with the eligibility criteria. By statute, these changes cannot take effect until at least 60 days from the date of the notification to Congress and the governments of India and Turkey. The full article is available here.

With some exceptions, goods imported into the US from GSP eligible countries, are normally allowed duty free status.
